Foodies in Taipei

Other places to find foods in Taipei, Taiwan we highly recommend!
Check out our other blog post about the night markets in Taipei.
Yongkang street
Yongkang Street, Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan 106

This street is famous for stores that sell ice mango desserts.

The mango desserts were tempting, but we went for another reason, egg pancakes. The vendor is called Tianjing Chong Zhua Pancake, and they sell very delicious egg pancakes! Sam chose ham and egg for her fillings, and Russ ordered his with just Taiwanese basil. Both pancakes were full of flavor and made the perfect afternoon snack! It was definitely one of our favorite foods we ate during our stay in Taipei. The total for the two pancakes was 75NT$ ($3.45).
No. 1, Lane 6, Yongkang Street, Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan 106
The vendor is located next to a Vietnamese pho restaurant. The queue for the egg pancakes wraps around the side of that restaurant.
Ximending Eats
Tiantianli Restaurant
108, Taiwan, Taipei City, Wanhua District, 漢中街32巷1號

Affordable and delicious Taiwanese food. We recommend the braised beef rice bowl with egg. Grab a menu upfront and have a seat with everyone. We ordered the braised beef rice bowl, fish ball soup and seasoned egg (115NT$ ~$3.76).
Prince Cheese Potato (street food stall)
108, Taiwan, Taipei City, Wanhua District, 峨嵋街49-3號

Cheesy and surprisingly good! Grab all the toppings, we decided to pass on the pineapple though. This snack is a great way to fill yourself up for 55NT$ ($1.80).
Hot - Star Large Fried Chicken (chain street food stall)
No. 36, Hanzhong Street, Wanhua District, Taipei City, Taiwan 108

We saw this vendor at another street market, but the line was too long. So when we saw the blinding bright blue LED sign in Ximending, we knew it was a sign to try the huge flat breaded chicken! The chicken was tasty, not overly salty, and we enjoyed the spicy powder that was sprinkled on top. 70NT$ ($2.29)
Oven Coffee 成都店
108, Taiwan, Taipei City, Wanhua District, 台北市萬華區成都路55號

Great coffee with no extra sugar added. We also tried the oreo milkshake which was the creamiest shake we had ever, we recommend it! Oven Coffee sells leige waffles, which look amazing, but we were too full to try them. The latte cost 80NT$ ($2.61) and the oreo shake 95NT$ ($3.10).
Fuhong Beef Noodles
No. 69, Luoyang Street, Wanhua District, Taipei City, Taiwan 108

A 5-10 minute walk from Ximending. These beef noodles were delicious! We decided to order thick noodles, which was a great choice. The thick noodles went well with the beef and broth! Try all the toppings, they all compliment the noodles and broth. Great plus. this beef noodle restaurant is open 24 hours. If you are still hungry, there are a few more beef noodle joints very close by. 40NT$ ($1.31) per bowl.
*Some restaurants we visited (usually dine in restaurants charged an extra 10% service fee.
Around Taipei City Eats
Din Tai Fung
110, Taiwan, Taipei City, Xinyi District, Songgao Road, 19號新光三越信義新天地A4館

Even though there are Din Tai Fung chains all over the world you must try this restaurant where it originated. Din Tai Fung is best known for their famous xiao long bao. Xiao long bao is a dumpling filled with savory hot soup. Don't miss out on the chocolate shao long bao too!

There are multiple locations in Taipei but the original restaurant is located at No. 194, Section 2, Xinyi Road, Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan 106.
Mala Hot Pot

All you can eat hot pot! There's a whole gamut of sides to choose from and a handful of different cuts of meat. Drinks are included in the price. Beverages include Taiwan beer, soft drinks, coffee, tea and wine (but wine is only available at select locations and costs 100NT$ $3.27 more). Desserts are also included, from cakes to pudding to a giant selection of Haagen Daaz ice cream! We recommend going for lunch, the price is cheaper 598NT$ ~$19.53.
Zoca Pizzeria Cafeteria
No. 3, Lane 69, Section 2, Anhe Road, Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan 106

If you are a pizza lover like us, this restaurant is a must try! The pizza is made in traditional napolese style by the chef and owner himself, Frederico Zocatelli. His pizza is the real Italian deal and even all the desserts are homemade. Get a dessert, we highly recommend it! We got the pistachio cheesecake, because the sacher was sold out. The cheesecake was amazing! It was one of the freshest and flavor packed cheesecakes we ever had. It didn't taste artificial and wasn't overly sweet, the perfect end to our pizza meal.
XinYang Noodles Hengyang Shop 信陽麵館 衡陽店 (Beef noodle restaurant)
No. 73-1, Hengyang Road, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City, Taiwan 100

Our first time trying beef noodles and we were not disappointed! The broth was full of beef flavor and not too oily. The homemade dumplings were also very scrumptious. There's complimentary tea and condiments at the back of the restaurant. The total was 215NT$ ($7.02) for beef noodles, dumplings in beef broth and milk tea,..not bad.
東北大餅衡陽店 (Great bakery chain to try)
號, No. 75-1, Hengyang Road, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City, Taiwan 100

The smell of bread brought us here after consuming our beef noodles. The puffy breads oozing with cheese and tightly rolled pork burrito were too must to resist, we bought both for 60NT$ (~$1.96).
Boba and milk tea shop are abound.
Here are our top picks!
Specialized Tea Club
Ximending

Our favorite.. specialized tea club in Ximending! Our go to drinks, pudding milk tea boba, and milk tea with coffee jelly for 100NT$ ($3.27). It's next to the bright blue chicken sign on a side street.

Rabbit Rabbit Tea

Fresh fruit taste and perfect for a hot night in Taipei!

Don't forget to try the stinky tofu, we found this dish at multiple street markets! The one Sam enjoyed the most can be found at Jiufen (九份) night market (stay posted for our next article on that town). It's yummy!
