Traveling back to Oahu we had an overnight layover in the capitol city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. We decided the most convenient option was to stay at an airport hotel in the KLIA2 terminal. The closest hotels were only accessible by car or shuttle about 10-15 minutes away from the airport, and our flight would be arriving later in the night.
Kuala Lumpur International Airport has two terminals. KLIA1 is used by Malaysia Airlines and other international airlines, and KLIA2 is used by Air Asia. The airport provides a free shuttle that runs 24/7, book your transfer online. There's also KLIA Ekspres (price depends on destination) that runs between the two terminals (also to KL Sentral), but stops running at night.
Our stay at TUNE at KLIA2 was a great choice due to it's proximity to the airport and the breakfast buffet is included. The price was more than our usual accommodation, but the location and convenience of the hotel was definitely worth it.
How was our stay?
The room and bathroom were spotless (amenities included), with complementary bottled water. We were 15 minutes late to the breakfast buffet, but nevertheless it was delicious. The staff were already cleaning and closing up.
In addition to the delicious selection of food, there's also an egg bar, where you can get eggs made the way you want! The first cook told us they were closed, but fortunately for us a kind cook approached the iron griddle and said he could cook our eggs (nice guy!).
The breakfast buffet runs between 4:30am-10:00am.
We'd stay here again in a pinch.
Fair warning, Malaysia also has a foreign travel law that requires travelers to pay an additional 10 ringgit ($2.41) per night to your hotel front desk.
Enjoy your stay!
